Delta Watch: Software installation and the License

The License

  • The Topcon Delta Watch software requires a license for correct operation
  • This license controls things like:
    • Mains processing capability such as: Total Stations; GNSS or both
    • Number of projects
    • Number of Active points
  • Add-Ons, such as: Hardware monitoring; restFull API; Import & Export
  • The license is also hardware dependent and cannot be transferred!
  • Delta Watch can be installed once on each device and tested for a limited period before finalizing the license

New customers and hardware selection

Hardware dependent license

  • When selling Delta Watch to a new customer make sure they understand that the license is linked to the computer on which they run it, if they want to change computers they would need a new license. It is therefore important that Delta Watch is tested on the proposed computer to ensure a good user-experience.

Trial period

  • To get started and test if the chosen setup is suitable, Delta Watch comes as standard with a trial period. During this period all modules are enabled and Delta Watch fully functions, no restrictions!
  • The Trial period should be used to setup and create the first project and test-drive the setup.
  • If during this testing the computer is changed and Delta Watch is installed on a new setup then a new trial period will start.
  • Once happy with the suitable setup only then the final license should be ordered from Topcon. This avoids having to purchase a new license later on.

    • Upon program start when there is no valid license, see image A and B
    • Inside Delta Watch by opening the About Dialog found in the Help menu, see image C
  • Copy the key and make a screenshot of the About Dialog and submit this together with your purchase order to your Topcon Dealer together with a confirmation of number of sensors; projects and any extra modules.

Activating Delta Watch

  • Once you have received a license key it needs to be installed in order for Delta Watch to continue operation.
  • The key might come as an installer, a .LIC file or simply as plain text in an email. It depends on the delivery method how to activate Delta Watch.
    • Installer: simply run the program and check that it points to your Delta Watch installation folder
    • .LIC file or plain text
      • Start Delta Watch and when prompted click on [Enter License key]
      • A new dialog will open. If the license is plain text you can copy-paste it here, item A on the right. If you had a file you can load it here. See item B on the right

Upgrading your license

When you have purchased additional items you will also get a new license key but this time, If it is not delivered as an installer, you will need to replace the ‘Tunis.lic’ file in the ‘Delta Watch/Configuration’ folder. Close Delta Watch; Navigate to this folder and replace the existing file with the new supplied; Start Delta Watch and check in the 'About' dialog if all is correct.
