Feature Set

A constant focus on innovation

From smaller and lighter physical designs to faster, more robust, more rugged, and more accurate operation in the field, we are a leader in maximizing GNSS receiver technology.

Our technologies improve your speed, accuracy and dependability. Many of our current features are completely unique and patented, supporting a wide range of high-accuracy positioning applications.

ADVANCED COMMUNICATIONS

Networking: Our Ethernet-enabled receivers provide an interface with multiple network features and protocols. This allows them to easily integrate within Ethernet networks and support communication to them from a TPC/IP host located anywhere in the world. Receivers can also be managed remotely with a web-based interface using any HTML-based browser. All network features are fully programmable with easy to use commands.

Data Logging: Select OEM receivers contain an on-board slot for industrial grade memory cards, while others only provide electrical and driver support allowing you to integrate memory card holders. Both solutions provide a quick and easy way to provide memory to the GNSS receiver for a complete raw data logging and file management solution. Data collected on memory cards can be flexibly accessed via serial, USB, or Ethernet ports.

USB Host: This feature allows certain models of our receivers to provide a sleek and high-capacity storage solution for copying raw data files from the receiver’s internal memory to an external USB Mass Storage device (UMS). Our receivers with USB Host functionality support flash-based UMS devices as well as hard drive-based UMS devices with USB 1.1/2.0 interfaces.

Wireless Communications: Our receivers provide a rich set of wireless communication capabilities that allow versatility, reliability, and efficiency at the jobsite. In addition to using UHF and Spread Spectrum radios, the receivers might use internal and external GSM/GPRS/EDGE and CDMA modules for GNSS communications.

NTRIP: For distributing GNSS data to stationary or mobile receivers over the Internet, RTCM Special Committee No. 104 developed the Networked Transport of RTCM via Internet Protocol (Ntrip). Ntrip uses the Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP/1.1) and the Real Time Streaming Protocol (RTSP) as the application level protocols to stream GNSS data over TCP/IP. All of our receivers support NtripServer and NtripClient both versions 1.0 and 2.0 of the NTRIP protocol for seamless integration into new or existing GNSS infrastructure – simply provide the internet connection and our receivers do the rest.

GNSS RECEIVER INTERFACE LANGUAGE (GRIL)

This easy-to-use, yet very powerful and versatile command language allows you to customize all receiver parameters and functionality for your specific application. The interface language is a built-in part of every Topcon receiver, and can be effectively used for the automatic or manual control of TPS receivers.

For automatic control, you can create sets of command statements (i.e. scripts) and program them to run at a desired time, making the receiver perform multi-step operations automatically with no user interaction required. For manual control, just enter GRIL commands into the receiver through a terminal, using our multi-platform TRU software.

Heading

Accuracy with precision

Our revolutionary heading determination technology goes beyond traditional GNSS to provide fast, superior accuracy and positioning.

You get ideal solutions for a wide variety of land, marine, and airborne applications.

HD2 HEADING DETERMINATION

Our HD2 technology computes high performance heading and inclination determination for high precision navigation and guidance applications. Through specialized differential dual frequency computation, HD2 is able to provide 2D heading with superior angular accuracy at a fast 100 Hz update rates. It operates alongside high accuracy RTK positioning.

You get accurate heading and inclination output in extreme GNSS conditions where other techniques may fail. HD2 self-initializes, which makes it very easy-to-use and adds flexibility in your installation. It also enables accurate relative positioning applications that provide freedom for the antennas to move independently.

VISOR HEADING DETERMINATION

Our VISOR technology computes high performance heading and inclination determination for high precision navigation and guidance applications. Through specialized differential phase computation, VISOR is able to provide 2D heading with superior angular accuracy at a fast 100 Hz update rate alongside high accuracy RTK positioning.

Simplified calculations also allow accurate heading and inclination output in extreme GNSS conditions where other techniques may fail. VISOR also self-initializes, which makes it very easy-to-use and adds flexibility in your installation.

Error Reduction

Practicing perfection

When it comes to your business dollars, any type of downtime is expensive. You need your positioning systems to be resilient, scalable and reliable, while keeping up with the latest networks.

Our Error Reduction technology helps you future-proof against anticipated demands, enhance productivity, and increase your overall business performance.

DION

This enhanced positioning engine allows you to use a single Topcon receiver to compute smoothed and consistent absolute position solutions. Instead of using the instantaneous pseudorange measurements of ordinary single point positioning, you can activate the DION engine to get more accurate and reliable results without the requirement of any additional hardware or software.

What sets DION apart from other positioning engines is an innovative approach that combines the simplicity and availability of absolute positioning with the repeatability and stability of the relative positioning.

Fence Antenna Technology

Our advanced antenna element design optimizes phase center stability while maximizing signal tracking performance.

Antennas are critical to GNSS applications with discerning accuracy needs. This technology ensures your high performance receiver is receiving the best signal possible so it can reliably compute the high precision and accurate position solution you depend on.

Quartz Lock Loop

Providing superior GNSS tracking in high-vibration environments, our patented Quartz Lock Loop (QLL) technology eases the effects of shock and vibration through patented firmware algorithms. Most high precision GNSS receivers use crystal oscillators. But when exposed to severe vibration and shock these simple systems can destabilize quickly, leading to inaccurate measurements or even complete satellite-tracking failure.

Using advanced feedback loops, our QLL technology continuously monitors system behavior to detect and remove any fluctuations that may cause tracking problems. You get a clean, stable timing reference signal throughout strong acceleration, vibration, and bumps for precise positioning.

RAIM (Receiver Autonomous Integrity Monitoring)

Available on all of our OEM receivers, RAIM uses a Fault Detection and Exclusion (FDE) algorithm that continuously checks the validity of GNSS signals.

If a fault (measurement outlier) in satellite data has been detected, RAIM excludes this satellite(s) from the positioning calculations allowing the receiver to continue providing correct position information without an interruption in service.

You also have the flexibility of configuring alarm parameters to fit the requirements of your application.

Core Technologies

Supporting tomorrow’s designs, today

Take your accuracy and performance to new levels with the next generation of GNSS technologies.

We supply core GNSS technologies to support custom applications, along with rugged enclosures and a full range of GNSS antennas and telemetry.

Precise RTK Positioning

With extremely fast initialization time, our RTK provides centimeter-level, real time positioning accuracy at extended baseline lengths. You get maximum coverage of up to 40 km or more for your high accuracy application.

Combined with the exceptional signal tracking of Topcon GNSS receivers, our RTK uses all multi-constellation measurements to maintain accuracy even in tough conditions around buildings, trees, and other obstructions. Optimal performance is sustained everywhere; no matter if you are working with traditional base/rover pair, in a Topcon TopNET RTK network, or in a third party RTK infrastructure.

Universal Tracking Channels

The industry’s only truly scalable technology that allows each individual GNSS channel to be fully optimized. Our patented technology lets us track any of the available satellite signals that are supported in today’s modern GNSS receivers.

Unlike other industry products, we do not limit the signals that each GNSS channel can support or allocate a fixed number of GNSS channels to track each satellite. Our Universal Tracking Channels can provide measurements for 60% more satellites while using same number of channels.

Vanguard Technology

Enables the tracking of all current and upcoming GNSS constellations and signals with superior performance, accuracy and sensitivity.

Our system-on-chip design enables multiple embedded cores and memory with comprehensive peripheral interface support. This increases board-level flexibility and reliability while reducing integration complexity.
